Checking Transmission Fluid?
I've got a 2005 Ford Ranger 2.3l RWD with an automatic transmission; how exactly am I supposed to check the transmission fluid (hot, cold, or in idle)? Also I have already check the manual couldn't find it and that's why I'm asking online.
Simply allow your Ford to idle for five minutes or so before checking. Allow it to continue to idle when checking the level.
Vehicle should be at operating temperature, level, in park, at idle. If low, add a small amount of fluid, put car in Low, D, and R for say 10 seconds, you can stay stationary, or drive back and forth a few feet.
Put in park, parking brake on, check level again.
I would only add 1/8 a quart at a time, then check.
- Why did my Ford E350 box truck start leaking transmission fluid? So I left my truck and didn't drive it for about a week or two and 2 days ago I noticed a huge leak that came from the transmission. I'm really curious as to why it happened since I didn't drive it for these two weeks and it happened just recently. What is going on? Bad seals? Hot weather made it start seeping through? I checked the fluid levels and they look fine to me. Advice?
- Does cheap transmission fluid matter? I gotta do a transmission flush In my 98 Ford Mustang. I'm trying to be as frugal as I can and found transmission fluid at Autozone for $1.99 but employers there said it's cheap fluid. Does cheap transmission fluid make a difference? Or should I just go with the big guns at $5.99+?
- How is the fluid from my radiator on my 1996 Ford Thunderbird mixing with my auto transmission fluid? I've asked and asked and no one seems to have an answer. Please any ideas would be helpful to give me some sort of clue as to where to start to get this fixed. The car still runs fine but its starting to effect the gears changing. Please any ideas would help.
- Made my first car payment but money wasn't taken out of my checking account? I'm really confused as to why because when I called the ford (I have a fusion) credit card number they said the money was credited to my account for this month s payment and yet my capital one checking account doesn't have the money taken from it yet. Why would this be? I'm getting a little nervous
