You shouldn't be investing money in a 28 year old small pickup truck. The cost to keep it road-worthy in the long-term simply isn't worth it. If you were talking about restoring a classic car, then it would be a different matter.
I think it's all 5/16 on that. There's the right way to do this and a bunch of wrong ways. Fuel injection is high pressure fuel. Regular old fuel hose and clamps is wrong. I would use nylon fuel line like Ford uses on all their cars. That takes special tools to press fit connecting ends and a good understanding of the parts to order proper quick connect ends. If you choose universal flexible rubber fuel injection hose you need to put the proper flares on the parts and use the proper hose clamps. Those flares will be difficult. Or purchase all the correct quick connect ends.
