Radiator fan wired to run all the time, how is this bad and how can i fix it? 1993 ford tempo?
Added (1). BTW, I purchased this vehicle recently, knowing it had a leaky radiator, finally replaced the radiator today and the guy said that the fan was a different story and would need an electrician.
fyi, where the key for the ignition goes, is broken so it has some good ol' mexican workmanship put in to it which lets me turn the car on with a screwdriver and a flip switch.
the radiator mechanic said he would need to replace the steering wheel column, where the ignition goes to get the fan to
Added (2). work OEM style… Is this true?
You bought a 93 Tiempo on purpose? Really?
You can buy aftermarket heat sensors that bolt onto the engine & turn the fan ON & OFF as needed. Or, just let the fan run 24/7.
Don't mess with it. A steering column will be at least 500 to have installed, and the electric fan wiring will be at least $250 to have repaired. This is a 22 year old car. As long as it works, drive it. Don't dump money in it
If you're saying the fan runs with the key out of the ignition, then wire in a ground side switch inside of the car to cut off the ground to the fan.
- Radiator fans staying on all the time? I have a 2007 ford mustang gt. My car does not over heat, but when i turn on the car and it reaches 198F, the cooling fan starts and stays on all the time and it stops only if i turn the key off. It sounds very loud. I changed the coolant myself and the next day it was doing that. I notice that the upper radiator hose is very hot, while the lower radiator hose is cold and not hard. Could it be the thermostat?
- How to change water pump on 1993 Ford Tempo? I managed to get the drive belt off but I can't seem to get the tube that goes into the water pump off. It seems to be made of metal or something. I also can't seem to reach the 3 bolts that hold the water pump on, they seem to be in places to tight to reach. Any suggestions?
