My warrantied cars Bill of sale says as is, are they pulling a fast one?

I just bought a certified per-owned Ford with warranty and financed by Ford. Came home and realized the bill of sale says "as is" and the warranty paper has our signatures but no vehicle info. I have 3 days/300 miles to return it no questions asked. Are they trying to pull a fast one?

By all means, contact the dealer and verify it is just a clerical issue. Bills of sale are usually boilerplate in one flavor, vanilla (Mmm… Vanilla boilerplate), and you will find warranty information in the packet you got from the dealer. And as Mark says, the contract trumps everything else.

You need to find out quickly. Do you have a warranty or not. Is it specified in the sale contract? If the warranty doesn't specify your vehicle by the VIN number. I would look at that 3 day/30 mile option.

It is pre-owned… Meaning it is a Used car. Coverage rules are different when you are the second owner. So find out what the differences are. Sometimes the cars are returned to the Ford manufacturer repair shop so while the car has been used it still has much of the warranty on it. A warranty covered by FORD.

Interesting. I would bet this is the type of thing the dealer says don't worry we just use the same bill of sale document for all purchases, your generic certified document is fine. Then when you come back with a big $2000 repair they say, oops the paper work was wrong, Ford will not pay us, so we can't do the repair, do you have your credit card handy.

What it should say is "vehicle sold subject to warranty terms listed in document tilted Used Car Certified Warranty Plan XZY". And I'm sure an attorney would say they would like your name and VIN on each page and each paged signed by the dealership.
You are a bit stuck, as they are going to say no worries, and that might be right, but seems like you at risk, even if they are not being shady. So you would have to have an attorney look at this like monday and the three days issue, is that in writing? If so it may count the day bought the car and all days including weekends. So you may have to write up an additional document with details regarding the warranty, hope you did it would valid in a dispute, then have them sign it, if they balk you have to return the car then.
I can guarantee you that they will attempt to stall, say we will have the owner look at the matter, no worries, just trust us, sure you can return the car next week if you need to.
Next week they will call and say we can't sign any document on the warranty, and the owner will not allow you to return the car as that was never in writing. So have a nice day.
They do this type of thing every day, so don't think yelling, threatening to sue or call the BBB will have any impact on them.
Best of luck.

Who knows. Get the vehicle info in writing with the warranty before the 3rd day. It seems the dealer does not warranty the vehicle so "as is" is from them. Then the warranty you bought is from an insurance company and they warranty it, but the car and VIN need to be on the warranty.

Thanks. Very much appreciated. I did go through my paperwork and the warranty is specified in the contract.
I'll be sure to get on it first thing in the morning and get better educated on the process. The main objective of incurring the debt of a newer car was to eliminate the worry of big repair expenses and having a reliable vehicle for the next several years, I don't want any surprises.
The time to clarify the issue is now.
