My neighbor towed my car with his truck. Is that legal?

I live in a town home complex and I parked in the visitors parking lot for a couple of hours and my neighbor decided to take out his black monster truck and tow my car himself. Is that legal? The truck is a typical black ford monster truck. Any info would be greatly appreciated. It just doesn't seem right, can any civilian use their truck as a towing service?

Both of you were wrong! This would be the time to get together and plan to retain a Real, Towing company, before some one parks in your space, Or haven' t you thought of that?

if he towed your vehicle on his own initiative he is probably breaking the law

the complex would probably have a contractor to use for that purpose that would comnply with local ordinances and cover the butts legally of the complex

No he should have got a professional to do it. However you shouldn't park there knowing your not allowed. Its technically considered theft of a motor vehicle.

Did you want your car towed somewhere or did they just steal it? Where did they tow it to? Of course it isn't legal. Why did they tow your car? This was someone's personal truck, it had nothing to do with a tow service.
there isn't anything that says you have to have a real tow truck to pull something.
