Why is the 55 on the speedometer red in a 1993 ford Mustang foxbody?

So my boy friend has a 1993 Ford Mustang Foxbody and on the speedometer the 55 is red and all of the other numbers are green! It's the stock lighting and everything! I asked him why and he says he has no idea why. So can anyone tell me please?

Sure, Up until December of 1995, the National speed limit in the USA was 55 MPH. Hard to believe many people wrongly thought driving slower was safer, LOL.

The National Maximum Speed Law was enacted as a way to lower fuel consumption during the 1973 oil crisis. And the reason it was left because of reports saying there was a decrease in the reported deaths after it was enacted though those claims are still under dispute.

  • Why does my car speedometer go whackadoodle catywompis a couple of times each year? Every so often my speedometer goes wacky as if it were loose from it's bearings. It will just go flipping all over the place as if being pulled by a magnet. This only happens once or twice a year. I always drive the speed limit so it has nothing to do with driving. It's a 1995 Ford Taurus SW.
  • Wiring a Red Led Fake Alarm bulb in Ford Ranger? If I wire a led fake alarm led bulb in my 2002 ford ranger what can I possibly wire it to so when I turn my ignition off the light bulb powers on and when I turn my truck on it turns off?
  • What would retail a 2001 red 4 cylinder ford ranger for? Transmission: manual, New batteries, a/c works hot and cold, actually there's no problems at all other than normal wear and tear in the exterior. Only concerning part about price is that it has 190,000 miles
  • Where can I buy stock 1987-1993 Ford Mustang LX hubcaps? I have a 1990 Ford Mustang LX and it currently had no hubcaps on it, can someone please post a link where I can buy some. They must be stock LX hubcaps and it doesn't matter if I have to buy them in a set, or individually. The more sources, the better. Best question gets points, thanks for looking!
