Why is my check engine light on?
So i have a 2002 v6 Ford Mustang and changed it from automatic to manual. After a day or so the check engine light came on? Can anyone help me understand why it did? Did the change throw off the car sensors?
Then check the engine and make sure the crank and everything is still there
You are willing to change the transmission from automatic to manual but you won't buy a twenty dollar code reader? Heck, auto parts stores will read codes for free.
You need to delete the TSS or trans speed sensor from the PCM program. The PCM is now thinking the automatic transmission is slipping because you removed the TSS when you swapped out the gear box.
You'll have to find someone local that can flash your PCM module to delete the TSS from programming.
The PCM isn't getting any readings from the tranny since you removed it.

- Difference between SERVICE ENGINE SOON and CHECK ENGINE light? Is there any difference? I have a Ford Mustang 2002 and my SERVICE ENGINE SOON light is on. Does it mean something is wrong with my car? Do Mustangs also have a CHECK ENGINE light?
- Check engine light came on, what could it be? I have a 2006 Ford Fusion. I had checked all the fluids. I bought it from a dealer, and everything was fine, except the check engine light. I told them I wouldn't purchase it unless they fixed the problem so they did and the check engine light was gone and that was 2 months and 2 thousand miles later. The car is running perfectly fine right now. Do you suggest I take it to a shop to get it fixed and to what the problem is?
