Where does the boss 302 stand on on the ford engine line?

Ford has alot of good engines and I read the boss 302 is a rear engine, they also say it's one of the biggest, and the 427 sohc is the biggest and most powerful so out of the boss 302, boss 429 (I think is the right number) and 427 sohc what would it be goijg from bigger and most powerful to lower engine you d use as a more standard engine? Also which engine would be best in a 1969 and even a 2011 or 2010 (if you wanted to put the same engine in an older and newer mustang.)

The 302 is a 302 cubic inch V8, 5.0 liters. The 302 is a small block, a small V8.
427 cubic inches is 7.0 liters, the 427 is a big block.
The 429 is a different block than the 427, designed for trucks. The 429 was increased to 460 cubic inches, 7.5 liters, and was the engine I had in my 5,000+ pound '78 LTD.
"Best" engine would depend on how you plan on driving, once you start driving instead of dreaming.

I would take the 2018, 5.2 liter, 526 horsepower GT350R motor and still get reasonable gas mileage out of it.

The old Boss 302 was not that great of a power plant(below a 351c and w). It was made to race on the Trans Am circuit that limits the size of the motor to 305 cubic inches. Otherwise they would have stuffed a 427 side oiler in the Mustang.
