What desiel engine/tranny should I get in my 69 Ford Mustang?
I want to put a desiel engine in my Mustang and I'm pretty sure I can fit a bluetec in it but I'm not sure what transmission I should use to match it. I definitely want a 5 speed manual at the least. And once I have installed the engine and transmission is there any other adjustments I need to make to maximize performance or just keep it from falling apart. And if you can please include the price I would be looking at along with where I could buy the part.
You'll need a whole new fuel system, & probably extra suspension up front, becauses diesels are heavy. Maybe a higher rear gear, as a diesel puts-out its max power at like 2500 rpm, compared to a gas engine at 6500 rpm.
You can get 2.25 rear gears for a 9" rear, so gearing isn't an issue. You will have a far easier job using a pre 1995 engine, without electronics. I would suggest a Mazda diesel, since it is a Ford. There are companies which import Japanese engines and transmissions, you should get them together.
- Why did my 2000 Ford Windstar just blow all off the tranny fluid out. But now its not leaking anything? I drove it with a trailer attached all day then I dropped the trailer off and drove home. When a was turning on to my street the car violently shuck but kept going I pulled into my drive way and looked under my car and big puddle of tranny fluid everywhere. So I filled it up this morning and drove it 75 miles and when I got back I was still full on fluid and nothing was leaking. So WHY?
- Tranny replacement, 76 ford, what to get? I'm considering a new tranny in my truck. It has a np435 in it and I want something that will put the power down better. It absolutely has to be a manual though. Suggestions.
- Should Sears and Ford HIRE Dotard McTiny as their CEO and get profitable again! If he can get Foreign Diplomats and American Lobbyists to? Pay $350.00/night to sleep in a tiny room in an old Post Office and keep it FULL and VERY PROFITABLE, don't you think that he could come up with an idea to save 40+ thousand American jobs?
- Remanufactured Ford Long Block Engine. When should I get first oil change? Recently had a Ford remanufactured 2.5L 4cyl long block engine replaced in my car. Other than obviously not beating on the engine, I'm curious as to when to get the first oil change. I've came across a few different answers ranging from 1k miles to 2.5k. I'm creeping up to 1k mile on the engine and would be grateful for insights.
