Transmission problems 2006 ford mustang 4.0l v6. All the gears save for reverse work fine?
Once you shift to reverse, which takes no more effort than any other gear, it'll roll backwards, but no matter how much gas you give it, it won't accelerate. It has a sealed transmission, so I can't check the transfluid level. I've lifted it in the air and checked for a level check plug but could only find a drain. There's no dipstick, nor leaks. There's a slight leak on the rear diff, but there's plenty of clean fluid in it. There are no present codes that pull up in the obd scanner. I think it may be a shift solenoid, but don't know how to go about testing it. Does anyone have any other suggestions what it may be? Or possibly how to test the calibration of the solenoid? Car only has 140, xxx miles. I'm at a loss here. Dealership wants to charge 200 for service, but I don't think that it needs a fluid exchange, that and it's never been serviced (due to being a no service needed trans.) I myself am an automotive technician of 5+ years, but neither myself or any coworkers can figure out what's going on.

Check for a bad transmission range switch.
You can drain and fill the fluid on your own:
No joy, time for a used transmission on Ebay.
Nothing you can do, take it to a transmission place.
If a solenoid was not functioning there would be a code. Ford's hairbrained setup on the transmission is shown on a youtube. Some German cars are this way as well. Lookit

It is in good condition, with 63,000 miles. Stays in garage, driven sparingly. Current insurance on it has comprehensive ($124 premium/$250 deductible) and collision ($285 premium/$500 deductible).
- I have a 2000 Ford Taurus Sedan that has a screeching metal on metal sound when switching gears to reverse? And the sound is there the entire time you are backing up. Does this sound like a transmission issue? Also hearing a rubbing noise in the steering, and it is a little tight, any idea what that could be? Also heater blows, but not real strong and no heat comes out… Does that sound like a difficult and expensive fix? And could the heater or any of the above issues cause my engine light to light up solid continuously? The car runs pretty good aside from these issues.
