Should I just go get a bonded title for my car?

I bought a 1997 Ford Mustang from a private owner and they told me originally that all he had to do is go to the DMV and get the title and he would mail it to me. So I bought the car. Later on, the car breaks down and I'm stuck here with a broken car I want to sell and no title. So I ask where it is at and he tells me a whole story of how the person he bought it from needs to give him the title, but he is being lazy. It took me a week to get the original owners number. So I contact him about the title and he tells me he has to get a new title, which apparently this one is going to take up to 6 weeks to get, because it is a rebuilt title and he isn't actually the original owner of the vehicle. So I'm a victim of title jumping. I need a new car and in order to start getting money and get this car from my drive way, I need the title. So should I get a bonded one?

Never trust anybody except your dog. Consult with a lawyer about a bonded title. It is very unlikely you can get one for a salvage title but a lawyer will tell you how to proceed with your situation.

If it were me, I would take the vehicle back to your seller and demand that your money be returned and tell him to get his own F-----ing title. But that is up to you. Get a title any way you can get a title but while you are at it, turn this guy in to the DMV for "title jumping". And next time don't fork over a dime until you are absolutely certain that you get a title. A title that is valid, clean and merchantable, for any vehicle you want to purchase.

It takes two party's to perform a title jumping scheme… YOU were one of those party's.

Consult an attorney, this is a scam.

Depends on state laws, paperwork, value. You need to prove provinence of vehicle and seems like you have salvage from at least 2 cars-- and probably no traceable junking certificate, no licensed dealer in the transfer process. Legally in some states you bought a collection of 'PARTS", not a licensible vehicle- and bill of sale will keep a felony possession of stolen vehicle with intent charge away - but may mean civil forfeiture of 'PARTS" if reported stolen.

  • When I bring my car to get an oil hange at a ford dealership, do I just pull right into the service garage? I've never gotten one I'm a new driver. I was wondering if I'm supposed to pull into the garage (the desk and stuff is in the garage) or park, tell them I need an oil change, and wait for them to tell me to pull my car up.
  • How to get rid of my car without a title, but with the registration in my name? I have a 1998 Ford Taurus. The whole purchase in 2006 was a little shady, and I never acquired the title. Furthermore, the title has a lien on it. I bought it off the street from some guy and I never got the title from him (What was I thinking, yes I know). Long story short, no one has ever claimed it since 2006, I've had it since, and I want to get absolutely rid of it now, and I don't know what to do. Any ideas?
  • What car should I get for my first car? I'm 16 and about to buy my first car. I'm thinking about getting a 94 Ford Ranger (120k miles) with lifted suspension, off road tires, and a prerunner bumper. Would this be a reliable car throughout my high school years? Should I get that or should I just get a 2 door coupe?
  • How to get the title to my truck I just bought? I bought a small Ford Ranger pickup for only $500.00. I made the first payment and received a receipt. I made the second payment and he refused to give me a receipt. He gave me the keys and the truck. But no title or receipt. Now he said I never paid him and he wants another $250.00. What can I do legally? He refuses to give me back my $500.00. Said he doesn't have to because he is now going to repossess it.
