How reliable is the Ford Mustang?

Thought about buying one bc I love how cool and sporty the Mustang looks, but wondered about it's reliability, longevity, dependability. I also wonder about which is best, Manual, Automatic, V6, V8, etc appreciate any info I can get on these.

Might want to invest some money in a few transmissions because you'll be going through a lot in 2 years

It will be alright if you don't beat on it and garage it same as any other vehicle. I'd expect it to be problem-free for ~7 years or so… Best is an auto v8 for longevity, but that assumes you don't try to abuse it because its faster.

The Ford Mustang is relatively unreliable. If you really want a reliable car then buy a Consumer Reports reliability magazine. That's a lot cheaper than buying a car that will cost you a lot more to keep running.

Mustangs are just as reliable as any other automobile manufactured by Ford Motor Company. Of course, ANY car is more reliable if it is properly maintained and not abused.

The Mustang has been made for over 50 years, so which generation Mustang do you want to know about? There are six basic generations of the vehicle:

1965-1973
1974-1978
1979-1993
1994-2004
2005-2014
2015-2018

Depends on maintenance and how it was driven.

I've driven or owned nearly every make of vehicle over the years. I use to rely greatly on consumer reports for reliability ratings until I figured out that the majority if failures they reported on were by iwners who didn't have a clue on taking care of a car. They once said the 84 Olds Cutlass was the worst used car ever made but I bought a used one and an alternator as the only failure onit. The odometer broke 18 months before I traded it off and it had over 300,000 when it broke. With the mileage I had been putting on it I estimated it had over 400,000 when I got rid of it. I put a lot of miles on my cars but I maintain them well and seldom have problems. I have driven Mustangs for more than 300,000 miles and foung them to be as reliable as any other make. It's all in how you care for the car as to how long it will last. Drive it reasonably, service it regularly and it will provide good service. Drive it hard and neglect the service and it will make the consumers list of unreliable vehicles in short order.

  • 2015 Ford Mustang Fastback V6 or the 2015 Ford mustang 2.3L ecoboost? I'm trying to decide which of the two to get I heard online the eco boost is surprisingly a little faster then the V6 edition. it gets roughly 4 more MPG then the V6. the ecoboost will be about 1500 more then the V6 fast back lets assume its going to be my main vehicle. which one should I get and why? And which is superior? Your thoughts please. I'm not a gearhead so don't get too technical on me without using things I'll understand lol
  • 2013 Ford Mustang BOSS 302 or 2015 Ford Mustang 5.0? Looking into buying a mustang this summer. Really looking into the new models, but am also loving the BOSS 302 model… To my understanding people are saying that the 2015 mustang is basically a Boss 302 but even better. Of course thats one pro for the 2015 model, but at the end of the day… A Boss 302 is a Boss 302… No other one like it. Would just like to hear opinions or thoughts on which car would better or which car do hardcore mustang owners prefer?
  • 2000 Ford Mustang v6 Reliable? So I'm looking at a cheap 2000 mustang with 75000 km's (46000 miles) but I'm a little scared of how it will be, the owner now has replaced a few things so that they're new and it seems it has been decently taken care of with there being a little rust on the fender so should I go for it and buy a 17 year old car? They want under 2 grand for it
  • Would a Mazda 3 hatchback or Ford focus hatchback be more reliable? I'm looking into good first cars and i want to know which one of these brands and models is more reliable and better in mpg, performance, ect… Thanks
