Can I drive my mustang on a 3hr road trip?
Bought it used so far so good. It's stick shift. Waste a lot of gas! 2000 model blue Ford Mustang. Should I drive it on my 3 hour road trip? Would it somehow break on me from running to long?
If you have enough money to handle the fuel than go ahead, but you will surely enjoy the ride.
So, tell us Casey… Did your mommy drop you on your head when you were little, or were you born this stupid?
First, a stick shift gives you better gas mileage. All power goes directly to the drive wheels unlike an automatic, and you control the shifting. The only way you're wasting gas with a stick is if you're not shifting when you should. Second, Running it for three hours won't cause a breakdown unless something is already wrong with it.
From what you have told us without meaning to, I suggest you take it by a trusted mechanic first and let them go over it and check for any problems the car might have, and need attention before you go on your trip. There ya go. Nothing like being stuck in a broken car. But you can always sign up with AAA.
1. Stick shifts tend to get better fuel economy than automatics
2. Unless you have a fuel leak or there's something mechanically wrong with your car, it doesn't "waste" gas.
3. There's no reason why any car in good working condition wouldn't be able to run for 3 hours or even 13 hours straight for that matter. Highway driving is actually far easier on a car than city driving is.
What do you mean: "It's stick shift. Waste a lot of gas!"? A stick shift gets the best mileage on a trip! Check the radiator hoses, the belt(s), the oil level (dipstick) and the coolant level in the coolant tank. Fill all the tires to 35 psi (air). Make sure the windshield wipers work good. Replace the blades if necessary. How are yoyr tires? Not bald I hope.
So a 3 hour trip is 150-200 miles. It should be easy. If you have gauges, like coolant temperature, look at it every few minutes, just to make sure it stays in the middle of its range. If a red light comes on, pull over immediately, and shut the engine off. Don't drive until the problem is solved.
Unless something is seriously wrong with it I don't even know why you're wasting time asking this… Cause normally driving for 3hrs wouldn't be that big of a deal unless you suspect there's something wrong with it and have an issue with how much gas a V8 uses (at least I'm assuming it's the V8)
- My 2000 Ford Taurus won't shift into fourth gear is it ok on a 700 mile round trip drive? I have a 2000 ford Taurus and it doesn't shift into fourth gear anymore. Its been that way for 2 years. It runs fine just doesn't shift into fourth gear and the transmission light does come on after a while of driving it. I was wondering if it would be ok to take it on a 700 mile round trip drive? I know its not good for it I just need to know if I'm going to be stranded on the highway somewhere because my trans went out.

- Can I use the reverse camera on the road test? I'm 16 and I'm going to be taking my road test soon. My friend recently got his license and I asked him if you could use the reverse camera and he said you could. His parents have a 2012 Ford Explorer. Am I allowed to use this? Also, which car should I take on the road test, a 2012 Ford Fusion or a 2014 Ford Explorer? I'm in NYS.

Going over 5 days. Please only answer if you know about cars, I'm not looking for uneducated opinions in the nicest possible way. It might be helpful to add that it's a 2002
