About to get a 73 ford capri 2.8 V6 any help on what parts and can buy to make it an all together better car?
I'm just trying to think of parts to get for it be more reliable my friends already told me cold intake, duel exhaust but I want to go a little deeper but anything helps also I'll be using the highway alot.
I plan on turning it into 5speed right know it's a 4 speed manual.
I'm going to be driving it alot so anything that helps
Added (1). I might swap the engine but knew someone when swapped it with a 5.0 mustang engine but it twisted the frame
Ok v8s have been going into capris for years. The 289 / 302 windsor will go in without too much fuss you will need to enlarge transmission tunnel and make new engine trans and diff mounts and it won't weigh much more than the v6 you are replacing. Remember to do bigger mustang brakes and differential at the same time
but if you just want a nice driver a 5 speed swap. Change diff ratio to 3.5 to 1 will give it quicker acceration and a good set of extractors to a h pipe. Yes mustang brakes too (yes always a weak point of the capris) cold intakes don't exist but a good service with new filters will help feel like a new car again
A fuel injected 4.0 V6 from a Ranger or Explorer would be cool, or a Mustang 5.0 and 5 speed would be a rocket.
V/8 engine swap
- Why would people buy a Toyota Hilux when they can buy a better, superior Ford Ranger? I owned a 2010 Toyota Camry and it broke down in 2011 upon reaching 0.6k miles. I treated it like a baby and it failed and disappointed me. My friend also owned a 2008 Toyota Tacoma and it failed to start in 2009 upon reaching 8k miles. And the mechanic said it was impossible to fix. However, my uncle has a 1965 Ford Falcon with over 750k miles on its clock and it still runs like new and he never even changed its oil since he bought it.
- Why would people buy a Toyota Hilux when they can buy a better, Chevrolet Colorado? Or even better and superior, Ford Ranger. My cousin is going to buy a pick-up truck next month and it would be a Toyota Hilux. How do I convince him that the Hilux is not reliable?
- I want to buy a car but make a measly amount of money (how can I buy one)? I have a 2001 Ford Focus with a little over 170,000 miles on it. It's not really running that well. I will try to keep it up with oil changes, tune ups, etc. But if I sell it, how much trade in value will it have? How much will I need to get a cheap car? I only make under 400 dollars every two weeks because I have a part time job so I barely have any money.
