2014 v8 mustang with ford racing chip?

Buying a mustang, and I'm not going to lie I know nothing about cars. Guy told me v8 mustang with ford racing chip, 450 horse power… Is 450 a lot? Or is he trying to make it sound cool lol

Yes 450 horsepower is awesome. It is a quarter of an f1 car. So there. It's faster than a silvia. Just buy it.

It came stock from the factory making 420 peak horsepower. Regardless of how much more power it's claimed to be making with some chip, it's a very fast car for someone who claims to know little about cars. In other words, its capabilities as a machine will exceed your capabilities as a driver. There's sense, not shame, in admitting that.

My advice would be to attend some sort of performance driving school where you can learn (and make mistakes) on somebody else's fast cars in a controlled environment before you decide to test your skills driving that Mustang that you have to pay for if you crash it. Driving schools are located all over the US and can cost as little a few hundred dollars to attend/participate (or you can spend a lot more money and time if you want more in-depth instruction). I recommend this because a good driving school lesson is always cheaper than wrecking a car because you weren't prepared to handle it.

Ford does not use any extermal computer chips on the EMC that you can get at, so it's possible the 'chip' is a cheap e-bay rip-off. You need a computer interface module to access the computer programing, & they are like $ 400. Good news on the 'chip' is that most of them don't do anything, good or bad, so not something to worry about.

Ok, first off, Ford Racing doesn't sell chips. You can get a tuner, but it won't give it 450hp, try closer to 420-425 (it's 412hp stock).

Secondly, yes, 450hp is quite a bit. The first Viper, which was a difficult car to learn to drive, in 1991 only had 400hp. Shoot, the top of the line Corvette ZO6 from 2001 to 2004 only made 385/405hp stock.

But a tune alone won't get you 450hp.
