Mazda cx 9 vs Discovery sport?

I'm looking for a luxury but affordable car for a family of 7, I've brought it down to Mazda cx 9 (Touring) and Land Rover discovery sport? Any other cars? Preference?

Get a Seqouia. No Land Rovers, very poor reliability.

Land Rover vehicles are among the least reliable vehicles on the road and very expensive to repair. The Mazda is an overall better vehicle all around.

And while it sounds childish, the opinions of my friends do matter somewhat, with them saying I shouldnt get a big car right now ( even though it isn't that big). What should I choose?
