I have a ford Ka. Recnetly, I accidentally broke the near side front wheel by hitting it heavily on to a curb, the rim was bent not sure about the tyre(hope it survived…)
Then, I replaced it with my spare(full size), the car runs ok with the spare, doesn't pull to one side but I don't know if it will have any problem in the future, because I heard that if a car runs with pair of tyres that are different it will end up with imbalance tyre wear and suspension damage etc. Particularly the front tyres.
I came up with a couple of considerations:
1. Just get a new pair at front, but it seems to be a waste of money as both the spare I'm using and the other front tyre have a lot of tread depth(can last at least one and half year but the tread depth of the spare should be definitely deeper, so the front tyres are different).
2.Keep using the spare as a normal tyre(it is full size), get a new spare tyre. (As my worry above, will it affect my car as I drive it more and more) Do I need to get a tyre balance If I do this?
3.Still get a new spare and swap the rear tyres with front tyres. Because I think rear tyres doens't matter a lot as long as I get the pressure right.
What is the best way to do considering both safety and cost?
