What is the howling noise coming from my engine?

I recently bought a ford ka and didn't realise how much was wrong with it so definitely paid more than what it was worth. I put it through an early mot to get all work done which cost a further £450. Bear in mind that the model is 2002 so not the newest of cars. Anyway the worki had done was both steering pipes, the breaks and welding where it had corroded. Now when driving the car sounds like it's making a howling noise like the engine is really loud. My other half thinks it's just a loud engine and it's age but I can't help worry when it was in such a mess before. I'm too embarrassed to go back to the garage I case I'm being paranoid. I'm wondering if there are any mechanics that would know what the howling noise is, it gets worse when I rev the engine?

Ford KA 2009 brake fluid & engine oil?

Hi, I've had a read through my owner's manual and I'm getting confused. So anyone that owns a Ford KA (2008+) - what are the most suitable brake fluid and engine oil for the car as I'm getting confused with what the manual means when talking about "synthetic" and "mineral"? I'm from the UK btw.

Does anyone have a dog car seat cover for a ford ka or small car?

Hi, I recently purchased 2013 for ka and I'm having trouble finding a dog cover for the back that actually fits as the back only has two seats so the ones I have purchased tend to be too big and the slits for the seatblets tend to be too far apart. Does anyone have one use for a small car?

Ford KA Sublime, Electrical problems?

I had the bonnet up checking the oil n water. Could just b a coincidence but when that was done n I drove it for the first time the car started to judder in low gear, but as the speed got up it would stop. Then, as well as that, if I had to change into a low gear I noticed the petrol, mph n rev gadges would drop n the radio would cut out, then everything would return to normal when gaining speed. Then my headlights and full beam blew. I got the bulbs replaced but they went again later that day. The battery light has come on a few times but gone out a minute later; Halfords checked the battery n it's ok. I've had no problems starting it. I know everyone is thinking Alternator, but when I bought the car a few weeks ago I was told that the fan belt needed to be replaced. Could it be that or could I have accidentally loosened a wire or connection when I had the bonnet up? Everyone I've asked have been stumped and I was told that this engine doesn't have a fan belt. Please help. I'm skint n so scared to take it to a garage where I'll get ripped off as I'm female.

How much should I be looking at to replace a heater cap?

Had to call out breakdown recovery twice on Friday as smoke was coming out from under the bonnet. The first call out repaired the heater control valve outlet which had snapped with a new hose/pipe but it meant that hot air would be turned off.

Same issue with smoke about 10 miles into my drive home. Opened bonnet, there had been a big leak. Called out recovery again who on further inspection found another pipe has come away. Was just about able to make it the next 15 miles and was advised to get to garage as soon as possible. Does this sound like it could be more than the heater cap.

Car is a ford ka if that helps.

Is it possible to tow a canoe or kayak with a dolly/cart?

I'm looking into the logistics of transporting a canoe/kayak with my Ford KA (2002 model) and am wondering if using a dolly (as pictured) is possible and legal (in the UK) to tow with? My car is very small so I'm not keen on using a roof rack, as well as the cost being several times more than the canoe itself, whereas the dolly would only cost around £30. Would instead it be practical to secure the kayak on to a small dolly/cart and tie the front of the kayak to my tow bar. I only intend to travel 15 minutes with it.

Any answers/advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you! Is it possible to tow a canoe or kayak with a dolly cart

Ford ka 05 steering issue

I've just got a 05 plate ford ka. Duratek engine and when driving the wheel is pUllingswick to the left then to the right, almost like a wobble but not as fast and when I go to turn corners I feel it resisting more that it should and the power steering feels a lot heavier than my last ka
It doesn't really get any worse with speed and doesn't change under breaking either

Been told it could be track rod ends but had them checked and they are fine for now. Any ideas what it could be
