Is it possible running 7 cylinders instead of 8?

I have the 2001 ford e250 5.4 triton engine, #7 coil blew up, however the spark plug is intact but blew out of its hole and no thread in it. Is it possible that i can drive the van without number 7 if i block off the fuel access to it?

Bother ions answers are positives. In that it's not god run with a plug. It can be both dangerous and IS engine damaging.
Have cylinder head Heli coiled.

Even if you disconnected #7 injector, I wouldn't want to drive it around the block.

Something folk need to remember is that just because fuel 'delivery' doesn't occur to any one cylinder, it doesn't mean that an open hole cylinder isn't pumping out a combustible mix out into the underhood area. With cam and valve overlap, exhaust reversion etc. How can anyone here tell you it's safe?

Pull out the lifters for that cylinder, and drop the rod and piston out through the pan. Will have to cut the rod and piston out in pieces, make sure no filings get into engine. Then, weld the rod journal oil pathways shut. Also, cut fuel supply to the injector. JB weld plug in stripped plug threads.

You will now have a functional 7 cylinder engine, it will be worth absolutely nothing, extremely out of balance, and not be easily fixed. Or just fix it right.

Here's what you need to fix your stripped out spark plug hole. If the coil is bad too, you can get one at a junkyard pretty cheap.

  • Why would people buy older foreign cars instead of brand new American cars? I see it all the time, people driving 7-8 year old Mercedes or BMWs that they paid probably paid around $20,000. They could of easily gone out and bought a brand new Ford or Dodge, but they didn't. They bought a Mercedes with over 100k miles. All worn and torn on the inside. But aslong as they're shining on the outside I guess.
  • Why don't automakers commonly make 3 or 5 cylinders? Most reliable cars like toyota or honda are only come with 4 and 6 cylinder are available and what do you think of those engines? There's still exist, like discontinued inline 5 of vw, few inline 3 on ford and mitsubishi but 3 are unreliable.
  • Water instead of antifreeze? Ford, gt500? My radiator has cracked and it spits out all the antifreeze. Don't have money to buy radiator at this moment so an I fine just putting water in it for a while. When I was refilling with antifreeze it would be empty within two days. Is it ok to just keep refilling it with water?
  • Sporty first car 4 cylinders? Hi, I'm looking for my first car I want a four-cylinder because its better on gas insurance will be lower but I also want something sporty and not something everyone has I like the Ford Probe but there's not many around where I live
