Is a Ford Crown Victoria a good first car?

I'm a High School student and I want to know if a Ford Crown Vic is a good first car. I always liked the Crown Vic model but I heard it eats up a lot of gas. Is it a good reliable car? And does it eat up lots of gas?

Meh, it's a boat that's get lousy gas mileage driven only by cops and old people, They are all horrible on gas since they only came with a V8 engine.Reliability depends on the individual car these days, And while you might find a decent one owned by a little old lady. But most of the ex-police cars will be trashed mechanically. Insurance depends on the company as far as I know (never looked into it).

Also as I said, they're boats so while they would be safe they would be HORRIBLE in tight spaces, parking, so that could make things much more difficult for a new driver.

I would recommend something more along the lines of a focus for a first car, small, better on gas, easier to drive, cheaper on insurance, etc

Hi without any doubt is is a guzzler of gas.

It gets reasonably good fuel economy for what it is. I mean it only gets slightly worse fuel economy than the smaller V6 Taurus

Crown Vic pluses

- Roomy
- Reliable
- Robustly constructed
- Dirt cheap to repair and maintain
- Cheap to insure
- Cheap to buy

Crown Vic disadvantages

- It's not a nimble car by any means
- it's not particularly fast
- it's large so if you live in a city, parking is going to be a hassle
- Production ended years ago, finding on in good condition, while not impossible, is getting harder to do.
