Installing a touch screen in an old vehicle?

I drive a 1985 Toyota corolla, I also own a 1970 Ford Squire Stationwagon. I take good care of them, they're in excellent condition. I'm the second owner of the Ford Squire. I want to add a CD player and possibly a touch screen, like you see in new cars these days.

Is it possible to install such a novelty in an old car?

I know it may be a long shot, given the differently wiring system. I understand that some of you may say to buy a new car to get these things, however I just don't have the money to afford brand new. I enjoy the vehicles I already own.

Added (1). All I need to know is the possibility of it… I won't be heart broken if it won't work. That's why I'm asking.

The Corolla will be about as easy as they come. You can fit either a DIN (2" x 7") or double-DIN (4" x 7") using the original radio brackets, with no mounting kit needed. The wiring is compatible, using an adapter harness.

The Ford will be more challenging. If you want to fit a head unit in the stock radio location, you'll probably need to cut out the dash panel. This should fit a DIN head unit, but a double-DIN is probably out unless you build a custom mount to hold it. The wiring is a problem, too; assuming you have more than one speaker, it's almost certainly a common-ground wiring setup, which isn't compatible with modern after-market head units. Common ground means that each speaker has its own positive wire, while they all share a common negative feed (or sometimes the vehicle chassis metal is used for the speaker negative connection). You may need to run new wiring to each speaker to ensure that each one has its own isolated positive and negative wire.

And tell me how are you going to fit a double din chassis in a possible single din opening in the Squire? That car is 41 years old, I don't even think you can find a mounting kit to fit a new stereo in it, you may have to go underdash as opposed to indash.
