If i put bigger rims on my car will that somehow screw up something with the car?
I have a 2002 Ford Explore XLT V6 engine. It currently has the original 15' rims but i wanted to upgrade them to a 24' chrome. I been told that it will screw up the bar that connects them the wheel and after a few months the top of the wheels will move inward and that would screw everything up. Is it true? I know that the speedometer would get messed and i would have to fix that so far.
Yup. You're changing the entire geometry of the suspension and steering. Unless you hire an expert to redo the entire suspension you can count on severe tire and bearing wear, longer stopping distances, and far less acceleration. Totally bad move on your part.
If you put on appropriate rim/tire combinations the speedometer WILL be OK. If total diameter, width and offset same the tires will clear the fenders. The ride will suffer as you will be driving on steel rims with very little side wall rubber. Every bump will be felt and you will have to go very slow over bumps or you will have bent rims. It will look good but your car will be a pain.
- Which classic car is bigger? My dad has a 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 Conv. I made a wise crack to him one time that I wanted a 1958 Plymouth Fury (Christine). He said that that the car was bigger then the Galaxie. But I was at work today and said something to a co-worker and they said the Fury is a good deal smaller then the Galaxie. I never got to see a '58 Fury in person so I was wanting to know, thanks.
- Type of TORX screw used with a Mercury Cougar '99 shifter? A seemingly simple issue with a bit of a tricky solution. I'm looking for the type of TORX screws used with for the shifter gaitor of a 1999 Ford/Mercury Cougar. I'm looking at the assembly diagram, but it doesn't shed any light sadly
- What size rims can I put to replace my stock rims? I have a 2004 Ford Ranger Edge. Looking to replace the rims, but don't know much about trucks and rims. My tires are p235/70r16.
- How to give an idea for something to like Chevy or ford or something? I have an idea that I know would make a lot of money for them but I want to tell them, not anyone else about it, and should I try and patent it first?
