I'm looking into converting a van on a budget under $5000. What do you think is a reliable choice? Is newer or lower miles more important?

Mechanical advice? Comparing a 1995 ford club wagon with 59000 miles to a 2007 ford econoline with 134000 miles?

The newer one. My teenage son has a 2001 Chrysler and it's really hard to find parts for it. I'm sure it would be even harder for a 1995 model.

Age or mileages does not have as much to do with it as CONDITION. I would go with good.

  • What are the most reliable cars you can think of? I want something relatively new, but it doesn't have to be brand spanking new. So far I was thinking a Volkswagen Jetta. I was also liking Subaru, but I don't know whether the impreza or legacy is better. I also like Ford Crown Victoria/Mercury Grand Marquis'. Are Jeep wranglers reliable as well? Mention any car you like and why, Hmu with your best suggestion!
  • A newer car with more miles or an older car with less mileage? I have a 1995 honda civic ex coupe with 176,800 miles on it. It's been leased the first few years then my friend drove it until now some city driving some not, I've also put $2000 into it; new radiator, new belts, axle fixed etc. A client then gave me a 2001 ford ranger with 198,000 miles on it. I believe it hasn't had much city driving and it's also had two owners. I think both have gotten into very minor accidents. What car do I keep?
  • Would insurance be lower for a 2000 Ford Mustang GT rather than a newer one (2005-up)? I'm currently 18 years old resident in Dallas, in still in high school, and planning to paying fully on a 2000 mustang gt. How much do you guys think my insurance would be a month? Liability insurance
  • Is purchasing a Ford with 80,000 miles a good choice? So basically my boyfriend and I have been looking for a perfect van to road trip in, and we saw this absolutely perfect Ford Econoline 150 that is cutom made. The interior is in mint condition as well as the exterior and as far as I know the engine and everything is in perfect shape. Basically my question today is if this purchase would be worth it or do fords burn out quickly? The van is 1995 with 80,000 miles and it is $11,000. I think it is pretty good deal but I need a second opinion.
