I have an 84 ford thunderbird in excellent condition with under 80,000 miles. What is the value?
I would say between 8,000 and 10,000 dollars, depending on how it looks and runs.
Worth depends on the buyer and seller.
Look on Autotrader Classics and see what other '84 T-Birds are going for with similar miles.
(That "between 8K and 10K" quote above is WAY off. I've seen VERY low mileage Turbo Coupes for $10K, but that's asking price. They actually go for way lower.
If it was garage kept and in great running condition it might be worth $2500-4000?
But anyone can ASK anything they want.
Value is determined by BOTH what a buyer would pay and a seller would accept. Someone asking $7000 does not mean its worth that if nobody will pay it.
Similarly, if you took it to an auction and it only brought $1800 and you declined to sell it, it does not mean its only worth $1800.
I fight with the board of equalization regularly over my house value. I told them if anyone wanted to give me their appraisal value, I would be out in 2 weeks.
Take it to a car auction. It will cost about $10 to run it thru and you are under no obligation to sell it.
See what it brings. Id say its value would be no more than about $1500 above what it brings.
A dealer auction would probably be better but if you can't get in one, an auction open to the public will do.
Another option is to take it to CarMax and ask them for a cash offer. Again, fair value is probably not much more than $1500 above what they offer. Maybe $1700-1800.
In good condition it is worth around $2,500 if it is a V8 or V6. If it is a 4 cylinder around $1800.
- Have 98 Ford Ranger, 4.0, 171,000 miles, auto trans with limited slip. I've owned truck since new and have changed trans fluid every 30-35 000 miles and have never towed anything. The majority of the 171,000 miles are interstate driving. The truck shifts fine with no jerking or slippage. What I do get is thump(s) in rear end when I come to a stop, as gears are downshifting. Do I need a new transmission? Any suggestions? I suppose it's a "clunk" I hear and feel when I come to a stop, not a thump.
- Do you think buying a 2000 ford focus with 161,000 miles a good car purchase? For 1,000? I'm wondering if anyone will recommend, a 2000 ford focuse with 161,000 mileage as my first car, I recently got my drivers permit I want a car to practice my driving skills and I stubbled into the 2000 ford focus.
- I own a 2015 Ford Escape with 30,000 miles and runs good. My prior vehicle had over 150,000 miles and I used Gumout Regane high mileage fuel? System cleaner. I still have a bottle of the Gumout and wondering if I used it in the Escape, would the Gumout do any harm to it? I suppose I could wait until I get 75,000 miles on it before using but I'm a 3000-4000 miles a year driver and the Gumout would go bad before using it.
