You need to know what type of trans the vehicle has & since you probably don't have an owners manual, it will be more difficult… If you can get any #'s from the trans case or take some photos for a truck repair shop to see, then that would help… Presuming that there's a trans now in the truck, you can get it rebuilt
The best I can tell you it came with either an Allison, Clark, Fuller, or Spicer transmission. Your best bet to call or email Ford and ask what transmission came with your MEDIUM duty F600 or F700.
- I have a '99 Ford Ranger with the 4x4 Off Road package. Does this include a heavy duty suspension? It's also a 6cyl 4.0 liter. I need to know because I need to change my rear parking brake cable and it specifies with or without heavy duty suspension. How would I know?
- Heavy camper. What truck can pull it? The camper weighs 8700 pd empty. What would be the best truck to pull it around? It doesn't have to be new. Something that's no older then 10 years. Ford, Chevy, Dodge? 1/2, 3/4, 1 ton?
