How would you personally rank the Detroit Big 3 automakers. And Why?

Ford, General Motors, Chrysler

Ford because they make better quality cars, that are safer and more reliable overall in my opinion. Then GM, and then Chrysler, as Chrysler is small, and doesn't have near the market share of the first two.

For mid-size sedans, I feel like they are pretty much equal between Ford Taurus/Fusion and Chevy Malibu/Impala.

For compact cars, I think they are also pretty equal, but I think the Ford Escort/Focus, out does the Chevy Volt/Cruze.

For luxury cars, possibly GM, as Cadillacs are one of the most iconic American luxury cars, but Lincolns are neck and neck. Like Lincoln has a new SUV coming out next year, the Lincoln Nautilus, and man does it look sharp. It looks just like the new Jaguar SUV F-Pace, side by side. And Chrysler's luxury car is, well, I don't think they have one… But supposedly they just bought out the Italian auto manufacturer Alfa Romeo, so perhaps if you want to include them.

For sports cars, also GM, as I don't think there's really any comparison to Corvettes. They are just sleeker, more powerful, and faster than their Ford counterpart, the Ford Mustang. And Dodge Chargers/Challengers are just lagging far behind both when it comes to what people think of for what "sports cars" should look and drive like. Dodges' sports cars are more like stock cars, which the stock car racing counterpart for Chevy is actually an Impala and for Ford, they're now using the Fusion, which are both just mid size sedans.

For trucks, the Ford 150 has consistently been deemed safer and more reliable than their counter parts the Chevy Silverado and Dodge Ram.

For suburbans and SUV's, the Ford Expedition/Explorer/Escape/Edge has similarly usually done better on safety tests than the Chevy Tahoe/Trail Blazer/Traverse/Equinox (also GMC's Yukon Denali/Jimmy/Acadia/Terrain, which are pretty much identical as the Chevy counterparts, but both are built by GM). However, I like the look of Jeep Cherokee's over both, but they are less comfortable than both, in my opinion. They drive more like a "truck" and I believe this is because they are built using truck chassis. In fact the Jeep Cherokee is called a truck-based SUV for that reason. Somebody once told me this. I could be wrong, but I used to complain about how my friend's Jeep rode so much harder than my GMC Jimmy, and they told me that's because Jeeps are basically just trucks. I also had a friend with an Explorer, and I always thought their car was more comfortable than my other friend's Jeep as well, but I liked the look of her Jeep. Jeep's just have a cool look, and I kinda feel like they were the original SUV maker).

I would rank them One, two and three. Why? Because that is my choice.

Those three corporations are international, and have been for generations, but if you want them ranked by success, just look at their stock values.

Ford first.

General motors second because they have way too many instances where there are one or more components defective in their vehicles.

Chrysler third because as of late they are even worse than GM about having certain defects in their vehicles.

In sates GM, Ford, Dodge. Like Ford has is currently the best made of the three but I hated the buying experience and miss Saturn's the Price is the Price although not the transmission problems my Saturns had. To be fair I had one new Ford and three new GM well four if you count the Nummi Corolla

I have not had good luck with GM lately and have had the best luck with American made cars sold by Japanese companies like the Nummi Corolla
