With a Ford, you do not pull up to unlock the door, but rather aim for the door lock where the door latches, and push downward to unlock it
Do you have electric door locks? It's easier to just use a flat balded screwdriver and a rag to pry the door open a bit so you can get a coat hanger through the crack and push the door lock switch with it. That way you don't rip the wiring apart in the door with the Slim Jim.
