How to recharge freon in car ac system?

I have ford freestar 2005,
Can someone tell me please how to charge freon if there's already some quantity inside the system? Thanks
The ac work I get little bit cold air (15c) but not enough.

You should take to a professional if it's never been serviced. It may just be dirty which will have similar symptoms as a low charge.

Buy a do it yourself recharge kit. Open. Read the instructions. Follow the instructions. When you're all done and it still isn't cold, take it to a shop.

They make kits to refill the a/c but how do you know that is the problem? It would be a gamble.

AC repair is NOT a do-it-yourself job. You need professional equipment.

Take your car to a good independent repair shop, not a franchise shop like Pep Boys. You can join Angie's List for free, and look for reviews of repair shops near you.

Watch a youtube video for charging the AC on your vehicle.

It's not such an easy procedure to explain. You SHOULD BE trained in a/c repair. You need a gauge set, which you probably don't have. Superheat and subcooling are part of the answer to your question.

If you put in too much refrigerant, you can damage the compressor. TOO MUCH is not BETTER.

And it's NOT Freon any more (since the early 1990s). Just call it REFRIGERANT. That is the "vanilla" term. R-12 was Freon. R-134a is Suva or several other names.

The first things I want to know are:
High side pressure.
Low side pressure.
Outside air temperature.
Duct temperature (discharge air). You said 15 C., that's 59 F.

-General automotive mechanic since 1972.
-A/C repair since 1980.

I have successfully regased a few cars with the kits that you can buy to do it yourself. So long as there's no leak and you follow the instructions to the letter it will work. If you can't buy the kit where you are then it will have to go to a workshop. It is a quick and inexpensive procedure.

The question should be WHY is the system not fully charged to begin with? If there's a leak in the system, then just throwing more coolant at it is NOT going to cure your problem. Take the car to a REAL mechanic and have it inspected to find the source of the leak and repair it.

  • Which exhaust/exhaust system would work best for my car? I own a 1970 Ford Torino (Brougham) with a 351 Cleveland engine running on stock exhaust. I want to upgrade the exhaust (I'm thinking Flowmaster) but like, does the whole exhaust system need to be done, or like half? I need your help making my baby roar lol. Please give me your best suggestions and approximate cost.
  • What do I need to buy for a system in my car? I can't play my phone on my radio in my car, so I need to buy a new radio. I drive a Ford Tarurus ses 2001. Would I be able to put and do everything my self you think.
  • Tried to recharge AC in ford E-350 gulfstream ultra 1992. R.V. Driving to Arizona in 2 days I bought a can of R-134a and it had a hose-a pressure dial and connection on it for the low pressure port. problem is the connector on the hose is to small for the port. it is a quick disconnect and not like a tire with a valve stem in it-i guess it is the adapter but it is to big for the connection on the hose… Are there different sizes? do i have the right Freon? Do i need an adapter for the fitting on the A.C. Line. I'm confused. I'm going to Arizona in 2 days so i need A.C.
  • Top up of water - CAR - cooling system - anti freeze? I have a low coolant level in my 2004 ford card. i was told i need a top up of antifreeze or just a pure water should do good for the time being. As they say, antifreez is nothing but a mix of water. what is the difference between topping up with pure water and a actual antifree here.
