How to identify a Ford tractor?
The serial number is un-readable. It is re-painted to look like an 8N and has a front bumper. It is only 3 speeds forward. The throttle linkage is a horizontal shaft running from the steering box to a mount on the head and then goes down to the governor. The oil bath air cleaner is missing. There's a filler plug in the hood like where an air intake was mounted. It has been converted to 12V. The distributor is mounted on the front of the engine. There's no embossed FORD on the side of the hood. I don't know much about old tractors unless they are red or green.
I don't know anything about tractors. Our old Ford is blue.
Here is a page I found. It has all kinds of links on it to pictures and manuals and all sorts of things.: http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/fordnclub/hist.htm
This is an excerpt form the page I sent you a link to. It might give you a clue as to why there's no FORD emblem. :
The Ford 2N eventually evolved into the Ford 8N, which officially started it's production in 1947. This was also the year the handshake agreement between Henry Ford and Harry Ferguson was ended regarding the three-point hitch. Ford would continue using the hitch, but would no longer give Harry any money nor would he call it the "Ferguson System" any longer. This resulted in a lawsuit which eventually awarded Harry Ferguson $10 million or so. Harry went on to produce the 8N look-alike TO-20 and TO-30 but that is another story in itself… So back to the 8N.
- Why doesn't Ford just identify as not an assault victim and move on, just like when you identify as a different gender? After all, if a man can "identify" as a woman despite the actual physical evidence he sees in the mirror every day, it should be a snap to "identify" past something that has no evidence. Stop dodging the question libs - the mechanism you claim allows you to be a different gender despite your years in your physical body should be powerful enough to change your perspective on one moment of your life… Or is the whole thing a fraud?
- Identify ford ranger transmission? I'm getting mixed answers. I don't have the VIN available but have most info. 1998 ranger, automatic transmission, 3.0 v6 and the tag says 98gt eaa2. The door says transmission code T. I was certain it is a 4r44e but after calling around the salvage yards for a replacement i was told i should have an a4ld, thus confusing me.
- How to start a mower when pulling behind a Ford 8N tractor? I recently got an attachment mower to pull behind my 8N, but can't figure out how to start the actual mower. Anybody own this tractor with the mower and know how?
- Ford 3000 diesel tractor cranks hard and gets hot on starter? It cranks hard and makes a slight grinding noise. The battery posts and cables get warm while the cable connection on the solenoid and the ground on the face of the starter gets real hot.
