How easy is it to fix a spun bearing?
Car on Craigslist has this description "I've got a 1990 ford thunderbird supercoupe
3.8 supercharged 5 speed rare car needs motor work spun bearing." I'm looking into getting a project car and am considering this. How easy and expensive would this repair be? Compared to doing it myself and having a shop do it
Since you haven't been in the engine, you have to assume no parts are salvageable. For what it would cost to put an engine in that car, you could buy a running Super Coupe. It is a neat car, but it is worth almost nothing in that condition.
Spun bearing = full rebuild because metal shavings ran thru the whole motor.
It's not easy but it is expensive. Figure $4,000 on up to rebuild the motor.
If you don't know how to rebuild an engine, walk, better yet, run from this heap.
- Is a 1970 ford thunderbird easy to fix up? I've found a pretty good deal on one but it's missing motor and tranny. I've found those too, but I was wondering how hard it would be to do this. Also, is it possible to put a 2005+ drivetrain from say an impala or mustang or something in it? I want it to be so I have to fix it less. Don't worry, not changing interior or anything. Just the stuff under the hood.
- Blinker turns off to easy? I own a 1993 mustang lx and when i turn my blinker on it only stays on when i'm going straight. So basically even when i turn the steering wheel a little bit it turns off how do i fix this problem?
- How much roughly is it for a new release bearing on a car? I have a 2008 ford ka Everytime I press on the clutch there's a rattling noise I have googled its the release bearing How much roughly would this cost? Also why did this happen? I'm in the UK
