Greatest motors from 1980-1995?

I'm looking at buying a car (likely a truck ) from 1980-1995, help me add to this list:

I'm pretty sure ford has the 5.0, and 5.8 windsor v8s. As well as the 4.9 straight six.
Chevy has the 5.7 (350) v8, the 3.8 and 4.3 v6
I have no idea about Chrysler.

Toyota ana nissan have great 4 cylinders, no idea about their 6 cylinders.

What other motors should I highly consider looking at?

Jeep 4.0L straight 6.

Some of this question has to be "Great for what purpose?"

A Chevy 350 will easily give the most power per $ expended if you are going for performance.

The Ford 300 straight 6, and the Jeep 4.0L straight 6 (originally AMC 6) are great durable torquey engines good for efficiency and long lifespan.

Dodge you'll find 318s and 360s in trucks in this timeframe, but the "Greatest Motor" from Dodge would be the 2.2L four you may find in the Dodge Caravan. Great in the sense that this is the motor our tax dollars were paying for when the feds bailed out chrysler corporation to produce the K-car and those minivans.
