Go kart! I need to build a cheap and fast go kart?

I want to make a go kart but I need that thing Togo fast! I'm talking fast man! But I need it to be cheap and fast so I was wondering if I can use a car engine on it? I have an old ford windstar and a gnc trucked just parked in the back of my house that bit have been crashed but the engines work! I was wondering if that would work?

A car engine is way too big and heavy. But you can get a super-powerful motorcycle engine, up to 175 hp. Used engines are cheap too because these bikes crash a lot. Just get a paper towel and wipe the blood off it.

If you used the whole windstar engine, transmission and computer you could use it in the rear of a kart, but it would be heavy. If you used the suspension, it would be pretty wide. But it would have a lot of power, for a kart. The frame will cost, maybe you could buy a welder and build it yourself.

As much fun as a gokart with a 160hp minivan engine would be, there are a ton of electronics issues you'd have to overcome just to get it to run. It's much easier to just slap an older motorcycle engine on the back, especially a carbureted one. They can be had pretty cheap and make pretty good hp for such small overall size and weight.

Are you high? A go-kart needs only about 15 or 20 bhp to be FAST - those engines would have 250bhp+, and All they would do is spin the tyres into smoke, All the time, and your kart would weigh ten times what it should, and would only go in a straight line.
Clearly, you are an idiot, Sir. Go see what local kart-racers are riding on at your local track, and buy one. Don't try to re-invent the wheel. D'uH!

Very simple cut the body off and leave floor and everything needed to make it run

No. Motorbike engine. Old 4/5/600cc with gearbox. Simple to rig a chain drive to the axle.

Putting an automobile engine on a go kart would be like trying to fire a 75mm cannon from a canoe. Due to the weight, torque and horsepower the automobile engine would probably tear the go kart to pieces.
