This whole economy is a sham and it is starting to unravel.

These companies are on the losing end in a competitive market. And, laid off workers can easily get new jobs. It's no biggie.

There are different reasons, some maybe financial mismanagement. It happens especially in large corporations.

Economics is cyclical. Every college in the world will teach you that.

Because in capitalism, profits are considered more important than workers - and sacking a quarter of your workforce is more "profitable" than reducing everybody's working-week by 25 %
