Why won't my car start? - 1

My car didn't want to start yesterday. Its a 2007 ford fusion 4 cylinder. I turned the key to start it and it just makes one click and the sound comes from the dashboard i believe. I hooked up my battery to a trickle charger last night. I reconnected the battery today amd i get the same click. I checked the fuses and they are fine. I don't know how to check the relays though. I smacked the starter with my wrench and that didn't help. I'm thinking a bad starter. What do ya think?

Is it possible for an SUV to have better fuel economy than a (5 year old) Sedan?

2 friends of mine: One owns a Lexus LX 570 SUV (not sure if it's a 2018 or 2019 model) and claims that it can go about 700km on a full tank.

The other guy owns a Ford Fusion 2014 (Sedan) and says that his can go about 470km on a full tank. (apparently, It used to go about 600km when it was new).

How could this even be possible? Is it possible for an SUV to have better fuel economy than a 5 year old Sedan

2013 Ford Fusion engine problems. What to do?

I have a 2013 Ford Fusion that I've had for a little over three years. On Sunday, without warning my car stalled and I got an engine overheated message which happened two times before due to a recall. I was told it would be $7000 to fix my car because it's no current recall. I had a warranty but apparently the warranty has ran out and Ford is saying that there's nothing they could do. Is this right?

TRANSMISSION PROBLEM! Input is appreciated?

The check clutch/transmission light came on in my car while I was driving home last night. It's a 2007 Ford Fusion (V6, AWD) it started delaying when I accelerate. I did a little googling and the answers seem to point to a fuel pump problem? I do plan on calling and taking it in to a mechanic to check it out but I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas on what this issue could mean and if it is the fuel pump, would my transmission check light come on?

Do I have a computer problem or transmission problem?

I have an automatic 2007 ford fusion 2.3 engine with 240k miles. Last march I was texting and driving and hit a sidewalk at 40mph, reckless I know. After that the check engine was on and the speedometer did not wirk anymore. The total mileage display also stopped working and has only dashes or dots (don't remember). I took it to autozone so they could pull some codes. They told me the obd port isn't working as their scanning tool couldnt read anything. Up until a month ago i could drive it up to 45 mph but the engine would have to be revved to 3200 rpm. Its gotten worse since last week. I can go up to 18 mph but it won't shift unless i let off the gas for a few seconds then I can go up to 39 mph before it slips gears i guess and won't progress. I rev it up and down but the transmission won't engage and the car slows down to 20 mph. If i start from a dead stop i can go continue the cycle of 18 mph letting off the gas and back up to 39mph. Could I have damaged a wire when i jumped the sidewalk? Could the impact have damaged something inside the transmission? I only have enough for rent at the moment so a transmission shop is out of the question until maybe another month. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Car made incredibly loud sound when I dropped off my kids at school. But hasn't made that sound since?

Yesterday morning I drove the kids to school and I was waving at the teachers waiting in the lot an incredibly loud sound that sounding like a firework and smashing metal happened in the front of the car and my car turned off. Kids went running inside and were crying scared. I called my husband to check it he is a mechanic and he said there's nothing wrong with it. It just backfired. I drive a 2018 Ford Fusion. I didn't know that they would backfire this early. What should I do? What do you think it was?
