Potentially 200k miles or more if fully and properly serviced and maintained throughout its life. That the key.

I have a 2007 Fusion with 95k miles on it and it's been a champ. In the 10 years I've owned it it's had precisely 3 repairs. A dead stereo, a seat warmer failed, and the interior door handle broke off. The stereo and seat warmer were covered by warranty and the handle cost me $100.
In other words, nothing serious broke in all that time. Of course, I follow the maintenance schedule precisely.
And the Fusion drives every bit as good as the day I bought it brand new. I fully expect it to go 150k miles before major problems start occurring.
How long is a piece of string. With hundreds of components and many vairables in play.
we can look at average mileages covered by car s each year and average age of cars scrapped etc to give us an anticipated length of service level.
however it is combined servicing and treatment of the vehicle that determines its lifespan.
e.g.Hard.rough driving. With heavy braking.Acceleration.poor maintenance and irregular attention to schedules etc will impact adversely on any machinery.
smooth gentle driving ( chauffeur style ) regular servicing. On time.Due care etc will have maximum effect on life of car to ensure long working life.
there's also an element of luck.Eg components lasting longer than design life.A few cars reported as covering in excess of 300.000 miles.One ( volvo) still on road daily use at 500,000 miles ( seem to recall there's an od rolls royce with even more but can't find record)
Hi so ford design cars to last 100k miles or 8 years which ever comes first.
No car is 'Designed' to last for a particular lifespan. Most cars nowadays if cared for and serviced could easily last 200k miles.
Who knows what the history is of any particular 9year old car?
- How many miles a 3.0 engine in a '95 Ford Taurus should last? I've got nearly 193,000 on it now. Have been good about oil changes and most mechanical work although a few years ago I drove it for several weeks with a broken catalytic converter.
