Do I have a computer problem or transmission problem?

I have an automatic 2007 ford fusion 2.3 engine with 240k miles. Last march I was texting and driving and hit a sidewalk at 40mph, reckless I know. After that the check engine was on and the speedometer did not wirk anymore. The total mileage display also stopped working and has only dashes or dots (don't remember). I took it to autozone so they could pull some codes. They told me the obd port isn't working as their scanning tool couldnt read anything. Up until a month ago i could drive it up to 45 mph but the engine would have to be revved to 3200 rpm. Its gotten worse since last week. I can go up to 18 mph but it won't shift unless i let off the gas for a few seconds then I can go up to 39 mph before it slips gears i guess and won't progress. I rev it up and down but the transmission won't engage and the car slows down to 20 mph. If i start from a dead stop i can go continue the cycle of 18 mph letting off the gas and back up to 39mph. Could I have damaged a wire when i jumped the sidewalk? Could the impact have damaged something inside the transmission? I only have enough for rent at the moment so a transmission shop is out of the question until maybe another month. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Your car is likely in limp home mode. The PCM can't communicate with a module (most likely the ABS module) and is limiting the car to a certain speed to avoid damage. Can also simply be a weak ground to the PCM.

See a very good mechanic with a dealer level scanner that will troubleshoot instead of saying "maybe it is due to a… ". Good luck.

It really doesn't matter what anyone here thinks is your problem because, regardless, you are going to have to take your car to a mechanic to have it fixed. Your car has serious problems.

Send the bill to the guy you were texting since it was his fault.

I agree with the consensus here. You could throw money at the problem and still not fix it. Better to take it to a professional.

Give the cell phone up. You're going to be spending a lot on Uber.

You wrecked your car. A mechanic needs to look it over to assess the damage. There are electrical connections that may be loose and you can try firming them all yourself. Here are no magic words for you we can say to make the problem disappear. Money problems… Scrounge aluminum cans and sell them for extra cash.

  • Why is my computer not outputting through the dvi-d to hdmi? I changed the DVI-D to hdmi Ford to see if it was bad I swapped the graphics card to see if the dvi port might've been the issue(it's not) I swapped the hard drive with a ssd to see if it would help (negative) The hdmi to hdmi output works fine When the initial start up happens the MSI logo pops up but with green lines going through it… Any ideas what's going on here?
