Can i still use steering wheel controls with an aftermarket radio?

I was thinking about buying an aftermarket radio for my 06 ford fusion because i want Bluetooth, USB and aux. I do love using the audio controls on the steering wheel, and i was going to go best buy to see what they can do, but i was just wondering if you can still use them, or its possible to do so, with an aftermarket stereo?

In some cases, yes. In others no. It involves an extra component, an interface between the car's controls and a "remote" jack on the back of your new head unit.

Some will have limited functionality if you use an ISO adapter, but only a Ford head unit with everything you want will have full control from the wheel.

Yes. You need a steering wheel control adapter, like Metra's ASWC-1; and you need to pick a head unit that's compatible with the adapter, meaning it has a wired remote input on the back.
