Are luxury brand cars really worth the extra money?
When all the "regular" cars are so good now? Like look at the Ford Fusion - it's got anything you would want in a car with smashing good looks and quality. What reason is there to spend the extra money on a BMW? I have even seen on those Hollywood shows that a lot of celebs drive cars that aren't luxury brands, like Reese Witherspoon driving a Toyota Camry.
People buy luxury cars because they are just that: luxury. Even if there are cheap cars built to the same quality, you still have that emblem on the front of it that you can show off. Would you rather pull up to a party in a little Ford, or pull up in brand new BMW? BMW will turn heads, Ford will not.
The funny thing about "worth" is that it's purely subjective.
Obviously by your question, you don't think it's worth it. But, ask any driver of a Rolls Royce, Maserati, Mercedes S-Class, BMW 7-series, etc., and they will very likely disagree with you.
Yes if you value a little luxury---no if you do not.
Depends on your outlook?
Some people buy a car to get from Point A to Point B. As long as it does that reliably, efficiently and in reasonable comfort, they should buy a Toyota. They won't feel any better spending 2X the money on a Lexus. This may eiither be because thay can't afford a better car, or they can, but it doesn't matter to them, it's just a means of transport.
Other people enjoy the better performance, handling, leather sets, better sound proofing etc. They will pay the extra for the privelage ot arriving in style.
Is it "worth it"? Depends on YOUR criteria. Those cars ARE nicer to drive, you have to decide if it's worth the extra.
- Why would people buy older foreign cars instead of brand new American cars? I see it all the time, people driving 7-8 year old Mercedes or BMWs that they paid probably paid around $20,000. They could of easily gone out and bought a brand new Ford or Dodge, but they didn't. They bought a Mercedes with over 100k miles. All worn and torn on the inside. But aslong as they're shining on the outside I guess.

- Do some people really care that much about driving a really nice car? My dad is perfectly okay with his 1992 Ford Taurus with 210,000 miles on it, no heat (he lives in Chicago btw), no A/C, and a f::::ked up passenger side door. He's not poor by any means, he's a CFO of a bank. He just says that driving that P. Builds character and he only cares about having a car that can take him from point A to point B.
