2006 Ford Fusion SEL V6 3.0L oil leak from timing cover problem?
Added (1). I have a 2006 Ford Fusion SEL V6 3.0L. I have an oil leak which seems to be leaking from the timing cover. I'm having a hard time locating on the internet how to even get to the timing cover on my car. I was wondering if anybody has experienced this problem and what they have done or if anyone has any reliable resources they use to fix up their car.
If oil is leaking out of the timing cover drain it means your crank or camshaft seal s gone. Probably crank. The oil will make the timing belt deteriorate so this needs fixing quickly before the belt snaps. Clearly you'll replace the belt at the same time and there's usually a good case to put in a new water pump if its done a load of miles.
Look for other cars with the 3.0L. You may find the video you need, just not on a fusion. Also, have you looked for a Hayes repair manual? It can help a lot.
You'll need to remove the motor mount with a jack/block of wood supporting the oil pan, then jack the engine up to gain access to all of the timing cover bolts, remove the crankshaft pulley (and belt obviously) and replace the crank seal, remove the valve covers (may need to remove other items to gain access to the rear cover) remove vct solenoids, then you should be able to just unbolt the front cover, there should be three seals you need to replace in there. Also you need to replace the valve cover gaskets too.
or pay about 500 at the dealership
- My 2000 Ford Windstar has a coolant leak. What could be causing it to leak? It has two leaks. One is from the passenger side near the front tire and the second is right below the driver's seat. I have to replace the coolant after I have had the heater on for a bit. I never have it on for more than 15 min. Not because the coolant runs out in that time but I just don't use it for long. I took it to the mechanic and he stated it was the "lower intake manifold gasket". I'm asking if anyone has any other ideas because that repair is pretty pricey.
- I have a 2006 Ford Freestar SEL? 2 weeks ago as I was driving I heard a blast of air then my van wouldnt go. It was still running but wouldnt kick in to gear so i coasted into an approach. I put it in park then reverse n each of the other gears but it wouldnt go. My husband checked the transmission fluid and level and said it was fine. Does this mean I need to replace the whole transmission?
- Ford falcon timing cover gasket enquiry? I have a Ford Falcon au 2. And I need to fix an oil leak coming from the timing cover gasket. My mechanic tells me that it's Silicone sealant, is that correct, or is there a part needed?
- Does replacing the timing cover gasket on a 2014 ford focus require removing the motor? My car is leaking oil at the timing cover gasket, can the dealership perform this repair with the motor installed or does it have to be removed?
