07 Ford Fusion won't run?

The car is a 2007 Ford fusion. About 2 months ago, the wrench light came on the dash, the odometer stopped working, and once it entered that mode (usually shortly after starting up And driving a little) it would jerk, and then it would never shift higher than 3rd gear. It's been driveable though until yesterday on my way to work. It wouldn't shift past 1st. Then this morning when I got off work, it just wouldn't start period. Not even turn over.

Well you should have gotten it fixed when the light first came on and started experiencing problems. 2 months is a long time to save money if you didn't have it. From what I've read online it could be a variety of issues such as battery, electrical wiring, alternator, and throttle body. Have it towed to a Ford dealer for a better diagnosis

I recommend having your Fusion towed to your local Ford Dealer to be properly diagnosed. Ask to speak with the service manager. He'll be in the best position to look into your inquiry and advise of the next steps.

Have a great day!

The odometer issue/wrench light could be due to faulty speed sensors or connectors/wiring issue or a PCM issue. The PCM requires input from the speed sensors and throttle position/cam/crank sensors, etc. To determine which gear or upshifts/downshifts to engage in the transmission. If the speedo/odometer quit working, it's usually a sign of a speed sensor problem but could be other issues such as PCM or wiring or low battery voltage which affects computer micro-volt readings. Given that the car won't start now, it could be more likely a PCM problem or battery issues. Or they could be unrelated issues and you have a bad battery or charging system/alternator.

The first thing to check is the battery and charging system… They must be in good working order before diagnosing computer issues/sensors/voltages. Battery voltage should be around 12.6-12.8 volts with ignition off for a fully charged battery and charging system should put out around 13.5 - 15.3 volts at idle if working OK. Have a shop test the battery and charging system and go from there if you still have odometer/shifting issues.

The no-start issue could also be due to a defective or misadjusted Range Selector Switch… Or called a Neutral Safety switch… Which tells the computer which gear you have selected and which also prevents starting unless the shifter is in Park or Neutral. So the starting issues/no crank may be related to a problem with that… Or faulty signals to the PCM or PCM issues.

  • Why won't my 2016 Ford Fusion charge my phone in the 12V port when the car isn't running? My old car could charge my phone without the car running in at least on of the outlets. Now in my new Ford Fusion now of the ports will let me charge my phone without the car running. Any way I can change a fuse to allow my car to use one of these ports without the car running?
  • Why won't my 2006 Ford Fusion accelerate while the a/c is on? My car has 198,000 miles. We had to replace the engine a couple years ago, the replacement engine had 68,000 miles when we put it in. In the past 4 months it has become a nightmare to drive. It WILL NOT accelerate while the a/c is on. What can I do about this? It's driving me insane, Texas heat and a car that I can't drive with the air on sucks!
  • I run over curbs a lot with my Ford Fusion? Is there a vehicle that is a bit more resistant than my Ford. If i can't avoid my bad driving id like to at least have something durable. I've been looking into a truck maybe?
  • 2003 Ford F-250 Powerstroke won't Crank, won't start? When I turn the key, I get a rapid clicking noise, and the indicator lights on the dash flicker. Glow plugs also sound like their barely getting enough juice. No crank at all. I hooked up my 100w solar panel with a automatic12/24 volt charge controller, which said batteries had a good charge. Went ahead and charged them fully, followed by cleaning the post, and battery connections of corrosion. Result was the same, won't start. Any ideas what could be wrong?
