For truck pulling, what determines which vehicle would win in a truck pull?
Is it the torque, horse power, weight, tire softness, or other factors that are in theca\car that would determine what would win in a truck pull? Lets say if you get a Bugatti Veyron and tie it with a Ford Raptor. Which one would win?
Bugatti in a truck pull contest? Get real, man.
It's technique as much as power, traction etc. If the driver doesn't use the correct technique, nothing else matters.
Same as in drag racing. If you don't have the best reaction time, (technique) you usually lose.
Obviously, there are people who aren't familiar with tractor/truck pull events. Here is a video…
Mr. Eddie, there's some confusion in your academic discussion a to what ask. First, the question indicates a query as to "trucks.' "Truck pulling." "Truck pull." And then you go and stray. Mr. Eddie, let us do this. Take out the second sentence, everything after "… Truck pull" for a Bugatti Veyron is not a Ford F-150 Raptor. Then, there's the issue as to the general term " Ford Raptor." This Ford model comes with lots of different specifications:
3 (Regular Cab)
6 (SuperCab, SuperCrew)
Drive Type 4x2
4x4
Horsepower 302 @ 6500 rpm (3.7L V6)
360 @ 5500 rpm (5.0L V8)
411 @ 5500 rpm (6.2L V8)
365 @ 5000 rpm (3.5L EcoBoost®)
Torque 278 @ 4000 rpm (3.7L V6)
380 @ 4250 rpm (5.0L V8)
434 @ 4500 rpm (6.2L V8)
420 @ 2500 rpm (3.5L EcoBoost®)
The possible combinations have to point out, as a matter of engineering that the competition must be in classes or similar type of vehicles. A higher horsepower (one word, please, not 'horse power'} and higher torque vehicle obviously has the advantage. That is a well established fact and why there are classifications and specification in all aspects of car competitions. The Bugatti has close to 1,000 horsepower and 450 ft.lbs. Of torque. If there any question as to the numbers? The Bugatti will easily overpower all vehicles with less values. In the USA the truck is somewhat of a status symbol for the most part, as to males. It is a highly profitable model for auto makers because it is an utility vehicle for work, for towing, for hauling. In the Chevy Silverado market in Texas and its more luxurious brother, the Jimmy brand, GM profits, pure profits, at the factory level averages $10,000 per unit. Some of these vehicles not top $50,000 per unit. Then comes dealer profits. Trucks are not, and have never been, to carry people around. They are the most expensive vehicles as to operating costs, gas or diesel. Oh, I have to ask you. What does the "ca/car" expression mean? It is probably a spelling mistake and you need to proofread before posting. OK? One last comment. Horsepower and torque must be transmitted to the wheels via a transmission. A truck must have the gear ratios and materials to withstand the heavy work load. Imagine you have a Toyota Yaris. It has four seats. Place four 180 lbs. Guys in this car, you and three friends and this car shall be at it maximum allowable gross weight or close to that. The vehicle shall struggle to accelerate AND to stop, it shall handle very differently than just with one driver. The components all the way to the tires, as they also have a weight limit, shall be very stressed. Do this as THE norm, the daily bias, such as going to work or school and the car shall reach an early termination. A car is not built like a truck. A truck, from the frame up, is engineered to be operated closer to its limits. That is planned. That is why a truck, used by teens as school transportation and by adults as a status symbol is such as waste of money and resources. This means that while the Bugatti has the advantage the frame will probably fail. Apples and oranges.
First it's friction. If one has better tires than the other or the other vehicle is heavier than the other, then the power does not matter. If all is equal including friction. Then torque will come in to play.
On dirt or gravel ford raptor would win. On a smooth hot pavement. The buaggti veyron might win.

- My warrantied cars Bill of sale says as is, are they pulling a fast one? I just bought a certified per-owned Ford with warranty and financed by Ford. Came home and realized the bill of sale says "as is" and the warranty paper has our signatures but no vehicle info. I have 3 days/300 miles to return it no questions asked. Are they trying to pull a fast one?
