When should I get my first oil change?

I bought my 2014 Ford Focus SE in January new. I now have about 4,600 miles on it will I get a notification or something?

Added (1). Okay I'm not an idiot. I usually follow the oil change sticker I get from the dealer but since I bought it new it doesn't have one. I read the owners manual when I first bought it and it said I will get a notification on my dashboard between 5 and 10 thousand miles I think. I just was wondering if anyone with this car has had their notification come on.

The information is in the OWNERS manual - read it - probably needs an oil change @5k miles - or 6 months but it could be set to 7500 miles. Depends on how the vehicle is equipped on whether or not you will get a engine oil change soon message - regardless - keeping a note book in the glove box and noting oil changes and other services performed by date, odometer reading is very helpful. It is all in the owners manual. You just spent $15-20k on a new car why not take the time to understand the maintenance schedule in the manual?

You will not be notified. It's up to YOU to keep track of the oil & miles, See what the scheduled maintenance says in the owners manual for miles between oil change, and do it

Ford recommends between 5000 and 7500 miles for oil changes depending on your driving habits and conditions. Look through your owners manual and find out how to bring up the oil life % indicator on the dash display. There should be a button on the steering wheel you can use to scroll through a list.

No later than 12 months from the day you got it or no more than 12000 miles whichever comes first - So ITS 3 to 4 MONTHS OVERDUE

I mostly buy oil at carid and change it at every 5,000 miles, very easy. So, I would recommend you to change it yourself for the 1st time if you can, just to make sure the oil change is done. If not, find a place you trust and go there.

HI NO IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO GET IT SERVICED.

I would have changed it at 500, 2000, 5000 then every 4000, plus or minus. Break-in is wear-in, and thats a lot of fine metal particles, which don't need to linger in the engine for 5000 miles.

The best thing is to do a service in 5000miles. Oil should be changed in every 5000miles or in every six months if the mileage does not exceed. For the better understanding refer the user manual or contact a dealer!

Every 3000 miles

Every 6000 miles should be adequate

  • Remanufactured Ford Long Block Engine. When should I get first oil change? Recently had a Ford remanufactured 2.5L 4cyl long block engine replaced in my car. Other than obviously not beating on the engine, I'm curious as to when to get the first oil change. I've came across a few different answers ranging from 1k miles to 2.5k. I'm creeping up to 1k mile on the engine and would be grateful for insights.
  • Oil pressure - in my dashboard - CAR OIL CHANGE -? Hi i'm getting the below message in my dashboard. Mine is a 10 yrs old ford card LOW OIL PRESSURE. could the above be due to ENGINE OIL due to be replaced. Or oil gone old or bad. i jut recently changed oil - its a 5k miles synthetic oil.
