Strong smell of gas inside 2012 Focus?
I have a 2012 Ford Focus. After driving at highway speeds (55 - 60 mph) for about 30 minutes and then stopping and turning off the engine there's a strong smell of gas inside the car. This doesn't happen for short runs around town at lower speeds. I've looked under the car and can't spot any signs of leakage. Anyone have any ideas what's going on?
Whatever it is, it isn't good.
You need to look under the hood while the car is running. Look for gas dripping from lines. Sometimes the clamps on the line are loose or a crack in the line itself.
One thing for certain is it should be found immediately.
- I have a 97 Ford Ranger, 4.0, in good shape, 102,000 miles and it doesn't start as well as I think it should. It cranks strong, and has new? Motorcraft plugs and fuel filter. I've cleaned the MAF sensor and throttle body and the truck runs fine and there's no misfire. Maybe I'm expecting too much, but I think the truck should start when I turn the key instead of having to crank 2-3 times. I've also installed a new IAC valve. Any suggestions on how to get the truck to start better?
- Bad smell when I floor the gas pedal, 2014 ford mustang v6 with 9000km? Its been like this for awhile now but when i floor the gas pedal (from a stop or while moving) there's a bad smell coming from the exhaust, I can't smell anything from inside the car but my friends tell me when they're behind me. They say it smells like burning, however I check the oil regularly and it still has 50% life. Btw I only do this for short distance never holding it. The dealership told me just not to floor it and it won't do it. Wasn't much help.

- Ford F-150 1992, start to smell gas, then stalls at intersection? So I filled up my truck with gas yesterday; I started to smell a lot of gas. Figured I would bring it to the shop later. This morning, I was turning right at an intersection and the truck stalled. It sounded like it was trying to receive gas. After a couple times and receiving it I got it started. So I pulled over and tried the rear tank to see if it made a difference. It started to stutter, so I switched it to the front tank. Now it's running fine. Any ideas of what's going on?
