Reasonable price to repair car air conditioning?

2008 ford focus SE 4 door with 105,000 miles. The air is blowing out just fine but is not cool. Suggestions on where to go in southeast Michigan?

It could just need a recharge, or there might be a leak that's making it not cold. My '98 Malibu had a leak in the AC, and it was going to cost around $800.

Take your car to a couple shops nearby and just ask for quotes. Quotes are usually free, but they need to see the car to find out what's wrong with it and do some tests. They put some sort of colored dye in mine to see if there was a leak. Make sure to only ask for the AC repair cost, if they find something else wrong with your car, just say you'll hold off on it for now. Ask if you can see what's wrong with it with them while it's on a car lift if it's a leak.

most common shops that do recharges cost $100 or less. You can do it your self i believe if that's all it is. It maybe cheaper and I'm sure there are some YouTube videos to show how to do it.

take your car to a couple different shops, if they offer different prices, I would chose the middle price, so you don't feel like you're getting ripped off, and if it's too cheap, they might not do a good job.

if a couple shops offer the same prices, just go to one you've been before that didn't have problems, or look online if they have reviews and choose that one.

bring someone with you who knows cars if you feel you might be taken advantage, like your dad, brother, spouse, friend, whomever. It's rare, but it may happen.

You can do what thousands of others have done. Go to Walmart get a can of the A/C re-charge for about $29. Then watch a video on YouTube of how to do it. If it doesn't help, you are out $29.
