Power steering noise on Ford Focus, still works?
Suddenly, my power steering has got noisy. It makes a noise when idling and increases when I press the gas pedal and also when I turn the wheel. The power steering fluid level looks OK, a little bit below the minimum level but I can see it when I take the cap off. Is this just going to be a quick belt replacement or something far more expensive? Is it safe to keep driving? And also, can The AA or RAC fix this at the roadside or is it a garage job?
The pump is likely broken. Have a mechanic look at it.
Pump is shot, time for a new one.
Just had the RAC out, I've got a fluid leak. The level was only just below the minimum but enough to cause the noise. He topped it up and the noise has gone. The leak isn't obvious, he had a good look and could see the tray below was wet. He suspects it could be the hose and not the pump but at least it's given me a bit a breathing space to get it booked it.
- Car won't start, power works and makes a single click noise? I have a 93 ford Taurus. When I try to start my car, it was just making a single click noise and then would eventually start after I tried a couple more times. The other day it wouldn't start, still made the single click noise, I tried a couple more times and now it doesn't make the noise at all. The power works, my headlights don't dim or anything like that. I've had my car jumped and that still didn't work so I'm curious as to what it could be?
- Battery light came on in my car and steering wheel locked but the car was still running what could it be? I drive a 1999 Ford Taurus I was pulling out of a parking lot and the battery symbol popped up and my steering wheel locked but the car didn't shut off. I applied the breaks slowly and the battery symbol went away and my steering wheel unlocked. I do believe I have some issues with the "computer" in the car i was wondering if this was the cause
- 1995 Ford Taurus with a steering issue. When I turn the steering wheel to a certain spot left or right it will start moving back and forth? According to previous owner the rack and pinion was previously replaced. Steering wheel Is off a little to the right. Any ideas?
- Can i still use steering wheel controls with an aftermarket radio? I was thinking about buying an aftermarket radio for my 06 ford fusion because i want Bluetooth, USB and aux. I do love using the audio controls on the steering wheel, and i was going to go best buy to see what they can do, but i was just wondering if you can still use them, or its possible to do so, with an aftermarket stereo?
