Power Steering Leak? Not sure how to fix?
I have a 2009 Ford Focus, and one day my power steering got really tight, so I checked and it was low on fluid. So I filled it and a couple days late it was all gone. Then I found it: when I shut the engine off, all the fluid in the reservoir builds up and oozes out the cap. I'm certain I have the cap on all the way, and the o-ring looks to be in good shape. Is there anything I'm not thinking of? What are some remedies?
The reason for the fluid bubbling out is that there's air getting into the system while the engine is running or the air has not been bled out from the first time you refilled it. First off fill it and run the engine turning the wheel all the way left and right a few times. That should get the air out. If it still bubbles out then the only place air can get in is the front seal on the pump, you would need to replace the pump. Do the bleeding first and you must have the car running.
- How to fix 2003 Ford Taurus power steering issues? I replaced the power steering pump on my 2003 Ford Taurus. It still does not work properly. The pump made a loud whining noise after I first started it up. I topped off the fluid, but the steering is still tough. The whining noise has quit, the reservoir is full and the steering is still stiff. What do I do next? It also spit fluid around my engine bay.
- 2001 Ford Taurus power steering fluid leak? My husband bought a new power steering pump and installed it last week, but when he added the power steering fluid it leaked out almost immediately. Any idea of what would cause this?
- Not sure which truck to get? I have to get a truck this winter but at the same time hoping I can save on gas a little. So i'm looking at a 96 ford ranger, 90 f 150, and an 01 ram 1500. I'm prioritizing the ranger because according to the internet it gets 20-26 mpg. Where as i know the ram and f150 would get terrible gas mileage. Do rangers actually get significantly better mileage or is it negligible? And which truck would you pick for reliability?
