Test drive it or you will be buying blindfolded. Take a witness and ask the seller if there's anything wrong with the car. This seems naive but if you can prove, with a witness, that the seller deliberately mislead you you can sue him if an expensive fault occurs in a short time. If in doubt walk.
At 67k miles it shouldn't have any mechanical issues unless you can see it's been beat to death. But not knowing what year it is it's hard to determine value.
Depends on how well it has been cared for. Have it looked over by a mechanic first.
Nobody here can tell you that. However it's just common sense to have the car inspected by a mechanic of your choosing before you buy the car. You will have to have this done at your own expense. Should the owner of the car balk or not allow it, then that should tell you something.
Hi so a lot of misery to follow.
Buying privately need to be aware phase used is "let the buyer beware". Meaning it is down to you to check things out and see if it meets expectations.
if we're not used to checking cars or aware issues and what to check or look at then paying a mechanic for a vehicle report is a good investment.
check out prices in used car publications for your area. Eg. Is mileage correct? ( can be wound back so check servicing book and invoices as 'stamps' are easily. Forged) state of car. Has it been in an accident? Repaired? Might pay to ensure any due funding is paid off debt on 'loan' on a car can have you responsible for it.
dealer prices may be 'book' value but will come with warranty and a come back if buying a lemon or something hidden. Private is often. Without any comebacks and they tend to be selling to get max funds as a dealer won't offer enough. Test drive is essential. Check out web sites what to 'look for' when buying a car and this model. Ha sit for example had recalls? Reputation for issues?
- Why do some companies like Ford have a 5year warranty and others like Hyundai have a 10year warranty? Does the company with the longer warranty trust in their product longer? Or they know that the owner will have to do a ton of repairs and without a back up no one would ever buy them?
- Unsure weather or not to buy a factory extended warranty from Ford for my 2012 Ford Focus? The car has under 30,000 miles on it. Does anyone have some insight on weather to buy a factory warranty from Ford or just put some money away for repairs. I plan to keep this car as long as possible.
- Do you think buying a 2000 ford focus with 161,000 miles a good car purchase? For 1,000? I'm wondering if anyone will recommend, a 2000 ford focuse with 161,000 mileage as my first car, I recently got my drivers permit I want a car to practice my driving skills and I stubbled into the 2000 ford focus.
- Ford Fiesta 2012 model (69 000km on the clock / 42 000 miles) Aircon has seized - warranty? So I'm wondering - our ford fiesta is covered under warranty until 120 000km and it's on 69 000… We, however, serviced the car through a friend of ours who is a qualified mechanic - and DID use all ford parts. We were driving just the other day and our air con compressor seized. This is practically a brand new car. Is the air con still under warranty if we self serviced the car? It is definitely a manufacturing issue and has NOTHING to do with the service.
