My car over heats in stop signs?

My car over heats at a stop however it will go down with driving. It will also go down if I turn on my ac, which means that the fans are turning on just not on their ow. What else could it be

Added (1). My car is a 2002 Ford Focus zx5 and its automatic

Sounds like it might be low coolant. Mine did that when the coolant got low.

Need more info type of car but if it is a standard car do the following

Car's overheat due to lack of water or water not circulating properly around the engine.

These are the man issues.

1. Hole in the radiator ( to check, fill radiator up and check after a few hours to see if its empty)

2. Hole in piping to the radiator ( check is same as above)

3. Thermostat is stuck and need replacing ( to check take the cap of the radiator and when the car is really hot you should be able to see the water circulating, if not then replace thermostat).

Most likely it's number 3 but check everything.

First to get a proper diagnosis, would need to know the setup your car has.
I would suspect though that your thermal switch for your fans is inoperational, or if you have separate fans for AC condensor and radiator, you could have the actual fan failed, then there's also the relays for the fans, or if your car is an older model it could be the viscous hub in the fan failing
