Ford Focus 1.8 TDDI was popping out of 5th gear now won't go into any gear! Is it Clutch or Gearbox?

The car which is a 2002 was jumping out of 5th gear into neutral when travelling at 60mph. Now it won't go into any gear and I can only start the car with the clutch pedal pressed in and when I release the clutch pedal with the gear stick in neutral the car stalls. The gear stick will literally not go into any gear. I think I need to find a used gearbox and I think the clutch is fine. What do you think?

Well when you remove the transmission for replacement you could pull the clutch and look at it. That's what I think.

Yea I think you need a new transmission

Take off the boot on the shifter and look at the linkage. Sometimes lil plastic pieces break and you can't put it into gear. Start there. Had a car that would only go into fifth gear. A $3 piece from eBay fixed it.

The gearbox selector has broken. That means it's essentially in 2 gears so the transmission is locked. Unfortunately the rivet that's broken is cheap but the cost of the repair is about the same as a replacement gearbox as it takes a long time. It's probably worth thinking if it's worth doing. A used gearbox could do the same the day after its fitted. You'd probably get a good price for it as spares/repair on eBay.
