Ford Focus 07 Permanent Indicators?

Hello I've seen a lot of cars driving around recently with the indicators permanently on what I want to know is could this be done with a Ford Focus 07, Please don't comment if you're going to argue thanks Chris.

You will need to replace or reprogram the body control module and the PCM which controls the indicators. It will likely cost more than the car is worth. And expect to get pulled over so many times you will regret getting it done.

US vehicle lighting regulations use the indicatore permanently on during the day as daytime running lights (DRLs), blinking off and on when used as indicators (US = turn signals).

Outside America, the rest of the world leaves them off at all times amd when used as indicators they flash on and off. Where DRLs are required they are bright white lights, although it is legal to have them combined with the indicators so that the DRL turns amber whilst fuctioning as an indicator.

Amber DRLs are illegal outside America and cause confusion: at a brief glance other drivers can be fooled into thinking a car has its indicators onnand that has caused accidents.

Even thougn some cars can be programmed or modded to make the indicators behave US-style, it's because those same cars may be supplied to the USA.

Lighting is a functional safety item and has to meet Type Approval laws for each country. They're not a fashion accessory/vanity item: expect to be stopped and insurance invalidated.

Cars for some markets (e.g. USA, South Korea) have orange side marker lamps.
These use a double-filament bulb of 5W for the side marker lamp and 21W for the indicator, similar to many cars use for a combined tail/brake lamp. This requires the wiring and bulb holder to be designed for the double-filament bulb.
European/UK market cars use a single-filament 21W bulb for the indicators, as the side marker lamps are white.
For this reason European/UK cars often have the side marker lamp inside a headlamp reflector.

Changing a European/UK market car to have US/South Korean style lighting would require changes to the bulb holders and wiring, and also would not be legal on a car used permanently in the UK/Europe.

  • Ford taurus, ford focus, ford escort or mercury cougar? Looking for a new used car, anyone know if any of these are bad cars? They're all in the 2000-2005 range I'm leaning towards the focus cause it gets good mileage and has good storage, also I've heard it does alright in snow. Anyone have any bad experiences with any of these cars or have any bad feedback?
  • My indicators and hazards have stopped working? I had this problem with my ford ka 56 plate and the relay switch got changed as they said this was the problem but 4 weeks later they have stopped working again. They don't come on at all. • I have a 2003 Ford Falcon BA Boss Ute. When i turn my indicators on my hazards activate for no reason I replaced a blown bulb recently and it fixed the problem for maybe 24 hours? Any help or tips to fix would be much appreciated!
  • What car should I choose ford ka or ford focus? Basically my parents have this ford focus and its coming up to my 17th birthday so they said I could have that car if I put some money towards it which i'm willing to do however a family friend who is a mechanic is selling a Ford ka and he thinks that is a better first car for me. The focus is diesel but I think the ka is petrol. Which one is cheaper, safer or better as a first car?
